Subaru Outback vs Subaru Forester

The Subaru Outback vs Subaru Forester: Which One Is Right for You?

Our Subaru showroom is full of high quality, reliable, and capable vehicles, and we want to make sure that you consider all of your options when deciding which new model to drive home in this year. The Subaru Outback is a popular model that drivers have relied on for years, but today we'd like you to learn more about the Forester.

Cargo Size and Body Style:

The Subaru Outback is a traditional wagon that drivers have relied on for its ample cargo space and comfortable cabin, with 35.5 available cubic feet when its seats are upright, and 73.3 when that are down.  The Forester is only 6 inches shorter than the Outback, yet it has 34.4 cubit feet when seats are up, and 74.4 cubic feet when they are put down. Whether you're hauling groceries or your entire family's ski gear, both vehicles will fit everything that you need them to.

Driving Capability:

The Outback is well known for its ability to handle whatever Mother Nature decides to give you: snow, ice, mud, and many other less than ideal driving conditions. The Forester shares the same Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system that makes the Outback so capable, so whether you're heading up to the mountain or just trying to drive up your driveway, both models have ground clearance of approximately nine inches and will get you there with ease.

Power and Performance:

Both the 2016 Forester and the 2016 Outback come with a standard 2.5-liter H4 engine and all-wheel drive. Thanks to tuning, the Outback has 5 horsepower more than the Forester, and it also comes with slightly better fuel economy. The Outback gets 25/33 MPG (city/hwy) while the Forester gets 22/29 MPG (city/hwy). With great performance and efficiency, the Outback is great for drivers who like more power.

The Forester is ideal for customers who like selection, especially because this model comes with tons of accessories. This includes optional features like a Cargo Area Cover, Splash Guards, and even a six speed manual transmission. While the Outback comes with a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (also available on the Forster), you get the choice between a manual and a CVT on the Forester.

There are clear advantages to driving either the 2016 Subaru Forester or the 2016 Subaru Outback. Each new Subaru truly offers a unique ride. Naturally, the 2016 Outback and Forester both come with Subaru quality, durability, and premium styling. So really it comes down to which vehicle best fits your lifestyle and driving habits.
